About maiGrex
We are not cattlemen
Ralph took over his family's ranch. What nearly beat us was not the cattle, it was the records. Notebooks in the truck. Photos buried in a phone. A whiteboard in the barn that gets wiped. Nothing you could hand a buyer and nothing you could find again in March when you needed it.
So we went looking for something to fix it, and everything we found wanted us to run the entire operation through it. Pasture management, feed rations, financials, modules we would never open. All of it asking us to change how we worked before it gave us anything back.
We wanted the opposite: one thing, done fast, that got out of the way. Photograph the animal, say what you see, done, and the record is there for good. So we built it, and we left out everything else on purpose.
The people who will tell you whether it is any good are the producers using it, not us. That is why the first hundred are Founding Herds and why we answer the phone ourselves.

How maiGrex uses AI, plainly
Two things happen automatically, and it is worth knowing exactly what they are.
Your voice note becomes text on your phone. The transcription runs on the device itself, using a speech model that ships with the app. Your audio does not go to an outside transcription service to be turned into words.
That text is scanned for keywords and suggested attributes. This runs on servers we control, using models we host ourselves. We do not send your recordings or your transcripts to any third party AI service.
What the automated parts are not. They are suggestions you review and confirm, not conclusions. No person reviews them, they are not guaranteed to be accurate, and they will get things wrong, especially with cattle vocabulary, ear tag numbers, background noise, and accents. You can edit anything before you save it, and your confirmation is what makes the record, not our software.
maiGrex does not detect, diagnose, treat, or rule out any illness or condition. No transcript, keyword, attribute, or alert is a finding about an animal, and none of it is veterinary advice. The absence of an alert does not mean an animal is healthy. Every decision about an animal is yours. Talk to your vet.
Built with Llama. The text analysis described above uses Meta's Llama 3.2, self hosted on infrastructure we control. Licence details are on the notices page.
